Why We Decided To Retire In Campbell River

After living in Regina for sixteen years, it was a great relief to move to Campbell River! This we did eight years ago. I had retired there after forty seven years as a pastor. I continued to preach and write. The invitation came to come to Campbell River to give temporary leadership to the Baptist church. Eight years later I have retired for the second time. Now what? It was very easy for us to make the decision to stay in Campbell River.

WHY?

How shall I count the ways? Let me try. The mild climate is wonderful. It is never too hot or too cold. The beauty of the area is remarkable, with ocean, mountains, forests and lakes. This appeals to me as an artist. The city is large enough to have everything we need, yet small enough to be warm and relaxed. The people are friendly and neighborly. Living costs are below normal and real estate is very affordable. One of the main appeals for us is the Baptist church, which is the largest church on Vancouver Island, and has ministries for every age group, including seniors. We own our home here and plan to stay. You should come and check us out. You will probably stay too.
