Helicopter medical evacuation is readily available right outside the Hospital's Emergency Department. Med-evacs are transported to tertiary care centres in Vancouver or Victoria - less than 45 minutes by air.

Complex Care
Residential care facilities provide 24-hour professional care and supervision for people who have complex health needs. Staff members administer medications and assist residents with daily activities such as eating, bathing and dressing.

Assisted Living
Designed for seniors who need some assistance with daily living and medical services, but who do not require 24-hour medical care. An assisted living setting includes the following components:

A private housing unit with a lockable door;
Hospitality services like twice-daily meals, housekeeping, laundry, social and recreational activities and a 24-hour emergency system; and
Personal care services with daily living tasks like mobility, personal hygiene, eating and managing medications.

Public Health/Prevention Services
Prevention Services staff work together with communities, families and individuals to be healthy and stay healthy. Prevention staff offer speech, hearing, nutrition, dental and nursing services. Health services are available free of charge for individuals and families at your local Health Unit.

Prevention Services intiatives include information about Healthy Choices(Sexual Health), Postpartum Depression & Anxiety, and Tobacco Reduction.
